HPRL PUBLIC SERVICE The technical staff of HPRL participates in many related professional societies such as SAE, ASTM, AAAM, HF&ES, ASSE, AIAA, etc. These professional societies provide the outlet for the scientific publications reporting the research conducted by HPRL.. The technical staff of HPRL provides consulting and advisement on matters of research experience, e.g. helicopter helmets for US Customs, police and highway patrol agencies advisement on motorcycle helmet selection, US Army advisement on ballistic helmet technology, police department advisement on motorcycle equipment selection. The technical staff of HPRL provides training and education: police department training days on helmets and accident analysis, training on helmet identification for enforcement actions, special accident investigation assistance, i.e. CRASH, PC CRASH, etc. Development of special technical publications to inform the public of critical head protection problems, i.e., misuse of bicycle helmets by children, use of novelty helmets by motorcyclists, deterioration of helmets in storage, etc.
